VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, [June 4, 2019] – Acuva Technologies today announced that its Strike Platform recently became the first and only UV-LED drinking water disinfection module platform in the world certified by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) to comply with a pair of key standards: NSF/ANSI 55 Ultraviolet Microbiological Water Treatment Systems for Material Safety and Structural Integrity, and NSF/ANSI 372 Drinking Water System Components – Lead Content Compliance. Using its patented IntenseBeam technology, Acuva is able to create a controlled optical environment that maximizes UV-LED disinfection efficiency to optimize performance. Its compact form factor can be integrated into almost all appliances that require a purified water source.
Acuva Technologies, a Vancouver-based company, is the world leader in the design, manufacture and integration of advanced UV-LED water purification technology solutions. Acuva’s proprietary technology, developed in partnership with the University of British Columbia, purifies drinking water with microbial disinfection rates up to 99.9999% to ensure health and safety.
This announcement that Acuva’s products are certifiable to the highest relevant certification standards for UV water treatment systems is a leap forward for the water purification industry. By integrating Acuva’s chemical-free water disinfection technology, free from mercury or lead contamination risks, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) enter a new era of innovation for their products.
“The Strike Platform, with its quality stainless steel build and high disinfection power, is a game-changer for many water and ice dispensing appliance OEMs who are looking to differentiate with UV-LED integration,” said Graham Duck, vice-president of Engineering and Product Development at Acuva Technologies. “This certification offers OEMs the highest level of confidence in new UV-LED drinking water disinfection applications, as well as an opportunity for advanced applications in industries that are highly regulated or need to meet very specific disinfection requirements.”
Designed specifically with unique OEM requirements in mind, the Strike Module Platform is fully customizable to provide tailored UV-LED water purification solutions for point-of-use applications. With variable lengths and an LED-agnostic design that maximizes available LED power to desired disinfection and flow rate, Acuva’s slim and compact modules enable integration into a vast array of consumer and commercial appliances; this capability was impossible prior to the development of Acuva’s technology.
