The Intermediate Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the day to day accounting needs of the business while reporting to the Director of Finance. This position is key to our financial success and will play an integral part in our strategic growth path. We are looking for a forward-thinker who can comfortably interpret quantitative and qualitative data and assist with financial and managerial reporting. Experience working in small to medium corporations both at the domestic and international level with a proven track record is a plus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage accounts receivables and accounts payables
Process expense claims
Process credit card transactions
Reconcile inventory management system with accounting system
Conduct bank reconciliations
Maintain prepaid, fixed assets, and other month end schedules
Assist in the preparation and coordination of quarter end and year end working papers
Investigate issues and reconcile accounts
Maintain accounting and tax filing systems (paper and electronic)
Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements
Assisting with annual statements including Review Engagement or Audit as appropriate
Verify transactions comply with financial policies and procedures, and internal controls
Assist with process implementation and streamlining to improve operating efficiencies and accuracy
Training to a junior level bookkeeping/admin clerk to assist as needed
Verify that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures
Ensure GAAP are being adhered to appropriately
Education & Experience:
Minimum 3+ years of relevant work experience
Post Secondary education with a diploma or degree in accounting (current CPA students are welcome to apply)
Strong experience and knowledge in Excel and QuickBooks
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
Proven prioritization, time management, and project management skills
Ability to exercise good judgement, show initiative, be proactive and accountable
High standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information
Background in a start-up, fast-paced, high-technology manufacturing environment is beneficial.
Experience with inventory management software functionality including inventory, and purchasing, is an asset.
Aggressive, self-starter, results oriented with strong relationship management, strategy development, project management, problem solving skills
