Job Description:

The Quality Manager will be the Quality lead for Acuva corporately, including our Vancouver site operations, and a key member of the Leadership Team in the VP of Operations’ organization. In this role you will be a critical leader of the Quality function and will drive improvement activities including the development and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) and comprehensive quality metrics. You will undertake the broadest possible involvement in every aspect of manufacturing, testing, and facility operations related to the quality of products produced. The Quality Manager is responsible for the release of all products and to assure they have been produced from approved processes in conformance to all applicable regulatory requirements and Acuva company policies.

The position will partner with the manufacturing and R&D organizations and support teams to make recommendations, set goals and implement solutions for process improvements. Another key component of your role will be leveraging your ability to effectively build and lead a team and facilitate the learning and development opportunities for yourself and the team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and support a strong quality culture within Acuva with a focus on customer, product, supplier and corporate quality.

  • Grow and maintain the Quality Management System, and oversee the Acuva Quality Manual.

  • Ensure that the organization’s Quality Management System conforms to customer, internal, ISO/IATF and regulatory/legal requirements.

  • Implement and champion APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) including PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) methodologies and tools.

  • Review and approve QMS deviations and investigations to ensure that corrective actions and change control have been implemented.

  • Report to top management on the performance of the QMS (e.g., results of quality audits, corrective actions), including the need for improvement.

  • Conduct periodic management review meetings.

  • Assist with records maintenance and work closely with cross functional team members to execute on time delivery of controlled customer documentation.

  • Perform internal audits.

  • Maintain training records and associated programs.

  • Prepare, revise and review SOPs.

  • Track metrics and report to management, as required.

  • Ensure evaluation of, and reporting on, supplier quality systems, and work with suppliers on continuous improvement.

  • Oversee inspection of incoming materials, ensuring that they meet requirements.

  • Manage the monitoring, measurement, and review of internal processes, especially those that affect the quality of the organization’s products.

  • Oversee product returns and drive root cause analyses.

  • Ensure accuracy and timely inspection/calibration of monitoring and measuring devices.


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science/Technical discipline.

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in Quality with managerial experience.

  • Proven experience developing teams.

  • Experience with common continuous improvement tools (e.g., APQP, Six Sigma).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills and organizational skills.

  • Logical in thought and detailed focused.

  • Analytical approach to problem solving and decision making.

  • Excellent negotiation skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience working with cross functional teams on complex projects.

  • Experience in an early-stage facility or with technology transfer.


  • Aggressive, self-starter, results oriented with strong relationship management, strategy development, project management, problem solving skills.

  • Must be comfortable working in an entrepreneurial spirited, fast-paced, and constantly changing workplace environment with a desire to make a strong impact on the business.

  • Demonstrated team building and leadership skills.

  • An effective communicator with outstanding oral and written communication skills
