Which certification listings do your products hold?
Our products are mainly listed for NSF/ANSI 55 and NSF/ANSI 372.

What is NSF/ANSI 55?

NSF/ANSI 55 tests UV-Water treatment devices against 3 main criteria:
1. Microbial Disinfection Performance: Validating the microbial disinfection effectiveness by
identifying the system’s performance as Class A or Class B
2. Material safety for drinking water: ensuring the material used in the UV water purifier doesn’t leach
heavy metals, or other contaminants which are known to be unsafe for human health
3. Structural Integrity: Assuring the UV Water Purifier can withhold hydraulic pressures under sudden
pressure jumps or continuous pressure cycling happening in plumbing system under regular use.

What is NSF/ANSI 372? Which Acuva products are listed for NSF/ANSI 372?

NSF/ANSI 372 assures the materials used in the water treatment devices are compatible with the lead-free plumbing requirement.
Currently, Eco 1.5, Eco NX-Silver and Strike product family are listed for NSF 372.

What is the difference between NSF/ANSI 55-2019 and NSF/ANSI 55-2018?

The 2019 version of the standard is different only compared to the 2018 version in terms of testing protocols for Microbial Disinfection Performance and hasn’t changed in terms of Material Safety and Structural Integrity. In terms of Disinfection Performance, testing protocols for LED-based systems are now included and, the microbial performance assessment has changed from a dose-based assessment to a log-reduction basis.

What’s the difference between NSF and IAPMO?
There is a difference between standard and certification.NSF International is an independent non-for-profit organization that develops safety standards, including NSF/ANSI 55, for protection of public health. When it comes to certification against NSF Standards there are approximately 6 accredited certifiers in North America such as IAPMO, WQA, CSA and NSF which provide certification against public domain NSF/ANSI standards. Each accredited certifier provides equivalent compliance to regulations and equivalent product assurance and acceptance for buyers. Acuva currently has certification listing against NSF/ANSI 55 and NSF/ANSI 372 standards with IAPMO.

We couldn’t find you on NSF product listing portal, are you not NSF certified?
This is a fallacy aided by the name of the standard including the name of one of acceptable certification agencies. There is a difference between standards and certification. Most certification bodies maintain an online directory. However, because certification is specialized for each company, these directories are exclusive to the agency that completed the  certification. Unfortunately, you are unable to go to online to access all listings to the NSF/ANSI standards. If you want to find a complete directory, you are required to peruse each listing site separately. IAPMO’s directory is live and can be accessed at www.pld.iapmo.org
