Our Story

Acuva Technologies was founded by Manoj Singh and Fariborz Taghipour who met and realized they shared the same vision and mission to make the world a better place. Their shared goal is to improve access to basic human needs such as clean water and air, with UV technology as the main driver.

Fariborz, a professor of chemical and biological engineering at the University of BC, was interested in developing ultraviolet technology for environmental applications. Recognizing the great potential of UV-LEDs, he began working on UV-LED technology.

Manoj was also exploring various technologies with high commercialization potential as an MBA graduate at UBC. One of the technologies that stood out for him was UV-LED water treatment systems. They appeared to be very promising for various applications.

In October 2014, with a lot of excitement, aspirations and $25,000 of their own capital, Acuva was incorporated. In 2016, Acuva launched its first UV-LED-based water treatment system in the US market but always kept an eye on the vision of enabling accessible drinking water in countries in Asia and other regions.

Since then, Acuva has expanded its sales around the world to more than 20 countries, including Canada, South Korea, India, Brazil, Mexico, Italy, Germany and the UK. Acuva has also built a diverse and talented team worldwide, grown an IP portfolio of global patents and participated in several technology pilot programs.

Today Acuva‘s goals are broadening access to its technology around the globe and providing access to accessible and reliable drinking water and air purification in as many countries as possible. Acuva’s IntenseBeam™ technology has been deployed to drive innovation in several industries, including applications for transportation, medical equipment, water appliances and many more.
